Where We Began
Five years ago, Project Imo was just an idea, a spark to build a place where people of all ages could connect in community and learn, create, explore, and discover their potential.
Since incorporating in 2020, we’ve grown into a community anchor. We are honored and privileged to offer free youth programs, environmental leadership opportunities, and open access to tools and training through our Idea Forge Creators Space and Base Camp community hub.
Together with families, neighbors, and partners across Windham County, we’ve supported hundreds of local youth, adults, and general community members with hands-on learning, mentorship, and a sense of belonging.
Now, as we mark our fifth anniversary,
we invite you to join 5 for 5.
“Five weeks of community action to fuel the next five years of creativity, opportunity, and impact in Willimantic.”

"Project Imo is an invaluable resource for all of us in this community!"

"My very shy child participated in a DND style series of games. Through her participation she began to build confidence in talking with other kids, speaking up, and embracing her creativity. This was the seed that blossomed into a child who now pushes herself to try new things (she went from being very shy, to participating in theatre programs!)."

"All I knew was you were a maker space and that’s what brought me across the street and when I got the tour and saw all of The Amazing things, including a podcast room and a sticker maker and a 3-D printer my inner child lit up and I am so excited to have a place so close to home to explore These things and develop new skills!"

"Jason's work with the UBUNTU card activity was a big hit for all of our students from various towns in Eastern CT!"

"I had a very fond memory of running a table for Project Imo at Third Thursday. I met a lot of nice people and it was a beautiful day. A lot of people came by and I gradually felt more confident as I introduced Project Imo to them. Jason was easy-going and helped me to feel more comfortable leading."

"My son takes great pride in helping find and develop the Joshua's Trust environmental preserve with Project Imo."
